The Project
The project originated from the initiative of a private client. His firm’s abandoned workshops were to be converted to a structure for the benefit of the community at large. However, the municipality stipulated that the structure must not be altered in size or shape. The excellent collaboration between the MAMA planning office and RUBNER OBJEKTBAU made it possible, despite the difficult starting conditions, to realise an impressive project, impressive not just from the architectural point of view, but also with respect to the construction, which is sustainable and forward-looking. The load-bearing structure with the vaulted saddle roof and the suspended ceiling made of glued wood and the wall elements, with their high insulation capacity, were supplied in timber framework technology by both parent companies Rubner Holzbau and Rubner Haus.
