The design of the nursery in line with the Montessori educational philosophy from two timber cubes, placed one on the other, with spacious panoramic windows, was a winner in a two-stage EU-wide architectural competition.
There were three reasons for deciding to construct the building as a timber construction using biologically sound construction materials: ecological, to bring the children closer to the concept of sustainability, thermal, since timber provides perceptibly more agreeable warmth and achieves high thermal insulation values and architectural, because the natural oak timber façades harmonize with the unique cultural landscape of Monte Sole in Val Venosta.
The extraordinarily high quality of the building lies in a variety of subtle detailed solutions – here the spacious window elements without frames, which nestle seamlessly into the facade, there the acoustic ceilings, which create ideal learning and working conditions. It is almost obligatory to provide Energy Efficiency Class A in this building, in order to also include low maintenance costs as part of the total design concept.
